Boho Boudoir Photos
Boudoir photography is about so much more than getting naked in front of the camera (though it can be a little bit about that, too). It’s about inviting you into a new adventure, discovering more about yourself, and expressing who you are – so a boho boudoir session is a really fun way to try something unique and to celebrate you!
Tips for a Boho Boudoir Session
If you love the boho vibe and want to incorporate it into your photos, here are some tips for planning a boho boudoir session!
Finding a Location
For a boho boudoir session, your location will make a huge difference when it comes to the look and feel of your photos. You can have your boudoir session at home, in an Airbnb, in a studio, or even on the beach… there are plenty of options, but here are some things to think about when you want that bohemian vibe!
- Lighting – for boho boudoir photos, lighting is super important! You want something bright and airy, with lots of natural light.
- Backdrops – while you’ll be the focus of these photos, the location itself and what’s around you is important too! Think vibrant, but natural, tones – greenery from plants, shades of brown and orange, white and beige backgrounds to add to the “light and airy” feeling, and you can definitely play around with some darker colors too.
What to Wear for Boho Boudoir Photos
Choosing what to wear for your session is always important, and when you want boho boudoir photos, your outfit is another big piece of the puzzle! When it comes to lingerie, lace is absolutely perfect for a bohemian vibe. White lace, or other light colors are usually best, but black can bring a little bit of elegance to the shoot. I also recommend adding some layers – a robe, a button up, or another cover up. Looser clothing tends to look more boho, so go for oversized shirts! You can also add some color to your outfit with a boho pattern, like florals. You can also accessorize – hats, jewelry, shoes, and other accessories are a great addition!
When it comes to hair and makeup, keep it on the natural side. Beachy waves are a staple of the boho look, or you can just keep your hair down and let it be a little wild. For makeup, stick to neutral colors and a “less is more” look, but a pop of color on your lips can be fun!
