5 Reasons to Schedule a Boudoir Session

A boudoir session can be a super fun, empowering experience, whether you have something to celebrate, need a confidence boost, want to give someone a gift, or want to do something for yourself. In this guide, you’ll find five reasons to do a boudoir shoot, and times when women often book a session!

Reason #1: Bridal Boudoir

A bridal boudoir session makes a really great gift for your new spouse – you can make a little album of the photos, and give it to them! Many soon-to-be brides pick out some new lingerie to wear under their wedding dress, and get some boudoir photos taken.

You can do this the morning of your wedding, after hair and makeup has been done, before you put on your dress, but I actually recommend scheduling your bridal boudoir session a few weeks before the big day.

First, this gives your photographer time to get the photos back to you, so that you can give them to your partner on the wedding night instead of waiting to get the wedding photos back! Seeing photos on a screen is all right, but there’s something about being able to hold them that makes them even more powerful (and in the case of a boudoir session, more sexy!), so printing your photos or making a book to give your partner something tangible is a great option.

Another reason to do a boudoir shoot a few weeks before your wedding, is because it can be a way to take some stress off! Let’s be honest, wedding planning is hectic, and it’s easy to get caught up in it and forget to take time for yourself. A boudoir session gives you the chance to relax, do something fun, and while you may be doing it as a gift for your partner, it doubles as an amazing way to celebrate yourself.

Reason #2: Maternity Boudoir

A boudoir session is about celebrating yourself, but it’s not just about your body – it’s also about expressing yourself and the connection you have with your body. And there’s nothing more magical than the fact that our bodies are capable of growing an entire human. Pregnancy is hard, mentally and physically, but it’s also pretty dang amazing!

Doing a boudoir session for your maternity photos is an incredible way to document this time in your life, before baby is born, and also to acknowledge and celebrate what your body is doing right now. You probably have spent a lot of time worrying about the baby, and that’s definitely not going to stop after they’re born – so another reason to do a boudoir maternity shoot is to take some time to yourself and do this for you!

Reason #3: Self Care and Self Love

We all need a little pick me up sometimes – and there’s no better way to show yourself some love than with a boudoir shoot. A boudoir session is a way to celebrate your body, and also a way to showcase your inner goddess and to connect yourself with your body!

You don’t have to be brimming with confidence to do a boudoir shoot – it’s all about seeing yourself in a new light. The photos, which show your body in a new way, combining art and creativity, will give you a boost of self love and confidence!

If you feel like you haven’t had a lot of time to take care of yourself, or feel like you need some “me time” or a confidence boost, that’s one of the best reasons to do a boudoir shoot.

Reason #4: To Celebrate a Milestone

Celebrating can be about absolutely anything – getting a promotion, showing off your gym gains, turning another year older, giving birth, or even an anniversary with your partner. A great reason to do a boudoir shoot is to acknowledge your accomplishments, or to give a gift to your partner for a special occasion!

Life has a lot of ups and downs, and it’s so important to celebrate how far you’ve come.

Reason #5: To Celebrate After Not-So-Positive

While those happy milestones that we celebrate are huge, the truth is that the low points shape who you are just as much (if not more) than the highlights. A great reason for a boudoir shoot is to empower yourself, and to remind yourself of your strength after a difficult experience. This can be a break up, an illness or surgery, a traumatic experience, or anything that got you down – scheduling a boudoir session is a way to remember that you’re strong, you’re a survivor, and that no one and nothing can take that away from you!

Just doing this for yourself can be a huge step in rebuilding your confidence, and helping you reconnect with yourself.

Reason #6: Just Because!

I know I said five reasons to do a boudoir shoot, but here’s a bonus! You can schedule a boudoir session anytime, for any reason – or for no reason at all. There’s no wrong time to celebrate yourself, celebrate being a woman, and celebrate who you are, so don’t be afraid to book a session at any time.

My job as a boudoir photographer is to help you feel your most confident, and to empower you during your session! Boudoir isn’t just about naked photos, it’s about connecting with yourself and your body, celebrating who you are, and just doing something fun, just for you. Whether you’re a little hesitant, or ready to jump right in, I’ll make sure you feel 100% safe to just be you, and by the end of the session, you’ll have a new-found confidence knowing you did that
